OBEJTIVEE.-To be the first player to complete the race by passing the last square on the board, which is the finish line.
MATERIALS.-A round or oval playing-board race course divided into playing spaces, some of which are designated as obstacles. A six-sided teetotum or die and a playing piece of a different color for each player ,ire also needed.
PATTERN FOR STEEPLECHASE PLAYING PIECE.
BEGIN PLAY.-Each player spins the teetotum or throws the die to ~ee who gets the highest number and goes first. The other players take their turns according to the number they threw, with the highest going aecond and so on.
PLAY.-Each player’s piece is moved according to the number shown on the teetotum or die. If a player lands on a square marked with a fence or hurdle, which appear at intervals along the race course i squares 3, q, 15, 28, 33, 40, and 54), then she loses her next turn. The first player to pass the final square or finish line wins the race.
